Creating Multicultural Music in the Classroom
March 11, 2011

Illinois ASCD Conference for Pre K-Kindergarten Educators

This hands-on workshop allows teachers to build and make multicultural folk instruments from common and recyclable materials.  The purpose of this workshop is to explore instruments from around the world, facilitate  sharing of ideas, inspire creativity, and allow teachers to facilitate similar discussion and exploration with their students to connect music to cultural studies.

Teachers will build instruments from materials provided.  Examples of various “recycled” instruments and their authentic counterparts from various parts of the world are illustrated below.
